Long Hair Bun Styles

Basic Hair Bun Style
The basic hair bun style is simple and easy to do especially, if you have medium length to long hair. For making this hairstyle, you need to first make a basic ponytail and secure it with an elastic band. Now twist the entire ponytail and coil the twist around itself. Once you have coiled the entire length of the ponytail, tuck the end of the remaining hair under the outside coil. Now hold the bun in place with one hand and push one hair stick straight into the outside coil until the tip of the stick touches your head. Read more on haircut styles and ideas.

French Loop Style
More like the classic French twist, the French loop style is an elegant hairstyle designed specifically for long hair. This hair bun style works great for formal events and parties. To make the French loop, gather your hair in a ponytail and twist some part of the hair, leaving the ends free. While twisting the hair, lift the ponytail up and continue twisting for the entire length of the hair. Now hold the ends of the twisted ponytail with your right hand as you grasp the middle of it with your left hand. Make a loop and tuck the ends held by the right hand under the twisted hair. Secure the hairstyle with a hairpin and use small bobby pins to keep the hair in place. Read more on long hairstyles.

Chignon Hair Bun Styles
Deceptively simple to style, the classic chignon bun styles are classic and elegant hairstyles that would suit a formal occasion. To create a chignon bun, use paddle brush to smooth your hair straight back and then gather the hair into a low ponytail starting at the nape of your neck. Secure with a hair band. Now split the ponytail into half and and twist one section of the hair and secure it with a bobby pin. Now repeat this with the other side and smooth out the stray hairs with a toothbrush.
